Our CEO
Barbara Oghomwenyemwen OGEDEGBE
Growing up in Northern Nigeria, I was amazed by my mom’s kindness towards Alhadjiris. She’d feed and give them clothes during Christmas and Eid. When we moved to Benin City, I noticed the absence of these Alhadjiris, but my mom’s habit of reaching out to people remained. She’d take us to orphanages instead. When she couldn’t continue, I picked up the mantle, driven by a passion to reach out to the less privileged.
I started visiting orphanages during festive celebrations like Christmas, Easter, and Eid. In 2015, I registered the Foundation and began seeking donations from individuals, churches, and the government. Despite funding challenges, I’ve always tried to reach out to these children, driven by a genuine passion for making a difference.
What keeps me going is the mission and vision of Oghomwenyemwen’s Foundation. Our mission is to provide support and care to orphanages and less privileged children, empowering them to reach their full potential. Our vision is to create a society where every child has access to basic necessities and opportunities for growth.
